Online Resources
The Library's Online Resources are a collection of subscription databases provided by the Pickens County Library System and the State Library's Discus Project. You can access the databases for free from the Library or from your Internet-connected home computer. To utilize any of these services click Online Resources or any icon below to access the sign-in page. Type in your library card number, choose the service you want and begin searching. Feel free to call the reference desk at 850-7077 for information or help to log-in. At the Library, a reference librarian will be glad to show you search tips and to help you get started on your research.

Auto Repair Reference Center has repair information
on many different makes, models of cars, and many different years. Sponsored
by Chiltons Auto Repair, here is a world of information ready for you
to use.
Ancestry.com
is another online, advanced genealogy resource. It also includes information
about births, marriages, death notices, immigration records and much more.
However, you must use a computer in the library to access this service.
Heritage Quest is an online genealogy research database ready
for you to start your own genealogy search from the comfort of home. Sign
on and see what information is available and waiting for you.
AccessScience
is a gateway to content from definitive science and technology sources.
Over 5,000 leading experts in their field contribute to the information
in this resource. AccessScience contains daily
updates and features the latest technology, including RSS feeds, Flash
animations, podcasts, videos and more.

DISCUS gives our patrons free online access
to an excellent group of library resources. Find full text magazine and
newspaper articles, reference materials, student and teacher resources,
health and business resources, and much more. DISCUS is coordinated by
the South Carolina State Library in cooperation with the Pickens County
Library System and other libraries throughout the state. This project

Britannica Online - The Britannica package includes three online encyclopedias for students and adults: Britannica Elementary Encycyclopedia (introductory -level content for students 6-10 yrs), Compton's by Britannica (intermediate-level content), and Encyclopaedia Britannica (advanced-level content for older students and adults).
Infotrac & Gale Group - Access magazine
and journal articles needed for school and academic research. Articles
cover health, legal, business and entertainment subjects. This group also
includes databases for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Sirs Discoverer & Knowledge Source - Discoverer
has many resources for K-12 students, including current events, encyclopedias,
and suggested research topics and activities. Knowledge Source contains
many government documents, primary sources, newspapers, and more on contemporary
and historical subjects.
