Downloadable e-Books and e-Audiobooks
The Pickens Library System has a new downloadable e-book and e-audiobook collection. The new library service, powered by a company called OverDrive, is free with your library card. With your library card, you will be able to browse, checkout, and download items 24/7! The library has hundreds of popular fiction, non-fiction, young adult, and even some children's titles to choose from.
Required Software to Download e-Books and e-Audiobooks
In order to download items, you must install the free software: Overdrive Media Console and Adobe Digital Editions. The software will install and run on a PC, Mac, and most PDAs.
Installing Adobe Digital Editions: Adobe Digital Editions software is required to download and read e-books. This software allows digital content to be downloaded in PDF and EPUB formats. When installing Adobe Digital Editions, you will be prompted to authorize and activate your computer or portable media device in order to download e-books. Important: If you want to transfer e-books from your computer to a portable media device, both the device and the computer must be authorized with the same Adobe ID.
